  • The Auxiliary Leadership and Management School (AUXLAMS) [AUX-02] is the Coast Guard Leadership and Management School (LAMS) course, adapted for the volunteer Auxiliary environment, and is taught by Coast Guard trained instructors. It is based on the Leadership Competencies, which lay the foundation for all leadership skills necessary to successful leadership in the Coast Guard and the Auxiliary. This is a facilitated and interactive course dealing with Self Awareness, Motivation, Strategic Leadership, Team Building, Ethics, Conflict Management and Performance Problem Solving. AUXLAMS is the foundation course of the Auxiliary Leadership Continuum. This is recommended for members who are interested in running for elected office.

    This course will occur Friday afternoon, Saturday and Sunday, participants will not be able to attend other DTRAIN courses.

    AUXLAMS [35 remaining]

    The Auxiliary Leadership & Management School (AUXLAMS) is designed for entry-level appointed and elected Auxiliarists utilizing the entire Leadership & Management School (LAMS) modified for the Auxiliary audience. These members are the individuals in the organization that provide direction and vision primacy to Flotilla groups or teams. They are responsible for developing and communicating the context of direction down the chain to members and work groups. The target audience for AUXLAMS is Flotilla Commanders, Flotilla Vice Commanders, Flotilla Staff Officers, and National Branch Chiefs. All members of the Auxiliary with Level 1 Leadership Competency Certification are welcome on a space-available basis. This is recommended for members who are interested in running for elected office.

    This course will occur Friday afternoon, Saturday and Sunday, participants will not be able to attend other DTRAIN courses..

    Emergency Preparedness in D1SR

    The D1SR Emergency Management team will discuss proper Emergency Preparedness in D1SR from an Auxiliary standpoint. Topics will include an overview of Incident Command and the National Preparedness System with a focus on emergency awareness and readiness as Auxiliarists in preparation for severe weather events and other major incidents. Highlights include the importance of Everbridge as a critical communications platform, as well as other useful adverse weather-related guidance and emergency planning resources.

    The D1SR Emergency Management team will lead an informal, open discussion in the form of a basic Tabletop Exercise focusing on potential Auxiliary roles and responsibilities in D1SR given a particular emergency-based scenario.     Team Coordination Training - Risk Management - ALL SUNDAY MORNING

    Risk Management Team Coordination Training Refresher (RM TCT-R). The prerequisite is Intro to Risk Management (IRM), an hour long course located on the AUXLMS Website. RM TCT-R is required for many diverse Certifications, e.g Surface and Air OPs, ATON Verifier, TCO, Watchstander and many others. Members with these certifications must take this course at least every 15 months to maintain their certification.SELECTING THIS SESSION WILL PREVENT SELECTION OF OTHER COURSES SUNDAY MORNING.

    Candidates for boat crew are required to complete a swim test as part of the PQS. This test will occur at the Coast Guard Academy Pool. Instructions will be provided to those that register for this session.
